Geisha Envy WIP
This Geisha entitled "Envy" is one of many characters within them that is hidden. I chose this because as with all of the Geisha that I have been blessed to paint, I portray their humanistic side. The moments when they recall Power, Envy, Dance, Posture, etc..I hope you enjoy this one as I have painting it.

Lunch with Mary Jane
Whenever I think of my childhood I would recall magical moments. These are a few of those moments. The paintings you see before you were from another era. A time when life was simpler and full of hope and prosperity. White Castle sprung up in areas you only longed to visit once in a while and McDonald's wasn't as well known and too far away.As a young girl, I would go to the local corner store in the Bronx to purchase goodies. It was the kind of store where the owner would know you by family name and kept a running tab. Mary Janes were filled in a large glass jar, as were all of the candies. Fresh fruit filled baskets, and brown paper sacks were lined on the counter to fill it with your hearts desire. I remember penny candy like it was yesterday and while I may have not had lots of candy, I always saved my pennies for my Mary Jane's. In High School I would order BLT and hot cocoa; what a treat. I loved pears, apples, and of course oranges... Umm I can almost smell and taste them once more. What was so amazing to me is how easily everything fit into this little brown paper sack.... hence, this series. There are a couple more I will photograph and post soon.

Self Portrait
A few months ago I wanted to practice painting in a very different style than I am accustomed to and I think I succeeded in this self portrait. Not a style that I can get used to but it was a lot of fun doing. I hope you enjoy this style and as always thanks for taking the time to view.
Hot off the Easel
I began thinking about painting President Obama just before the Democratic convention here in Denver, CO because I love his face... perhaps because he is a good looking man and since I don't get to paint too many men, nomatter the color, I had to paint his. I was fortunate that my daughter was able to go to the convention and brought back with her lots of wonderful images and was I happy. I sketched his likeness then used the photos for reference. The photo of the painting is not a good as I would have liked to use for this post but I think you get the jest of it.I am looking to paint more male figures since I am known mostly for females and children..

Hot off the EASEL
Martin Luther King Jr. was the first black man I have ever painted and I felt honored doing so. I tried to imagine the courage he must have had to pursue his goals and used it as I placed each stroke onto the canvas.Every time I think about who I would like to paint or what I would like to paint I think about the process before, during, and after completing the piece...
It's not the painting it's the process that motivates me.Thank you for viewing.
